Main-level condominium with covered porch, 2 bedrooms and 2 baths.
Modern condominium interiors are invariably crisp and sleek. A warmand welcoming space needs function as well as form. Focusing on functioningrooms, the architect ensured the floor plan had open living areas but also defined spaces. It was clearthe interior needed to have a home-feel on a one-level condominium layout. Theemphasis was on creating visual warmth while providing a seamless, open livingspace.
To begin, there needed to be a defined entry. Many condominiumsopen directly into living space without thought to the welcoming space. To keepit sleek and contained, an angled entry was added providing a coat closet withan opening meeting the rectangular planes of the living areas. With centrallight pouring in from the tall windows and sliding glass door from a covereddeck, the layout was configured to integrate the kitchen and dining areas withthe living area. This separated the two bedrooms and baths to privacy at their own end of thecondominium.
Careful creative thought was required to provide a sleek, contemporary interior, says the interior designer working with the architect. Acool color palette of gray walls with white trimwork creates a sereneenvironment. Cabinetry with a dark wood stain matches the flooring. The coolcolors contrast with the warm flooring and cabinetry color conveying warmthwhile helping expand the room visually. The extensive use of the wood-likeflooring and rich hues enhance the warm intimacy of the space.
